Made to order: production, sizing and delivery

Made to order means we make an existing design after you place your order. You choose from the available sizes; this does not automatically include a made-to-measure service. The delivery time also allows for production.

What we make after you place your order

With made-to-order clothing, the design and available options are already defined before you order. Your order starts the production of the piece you have chosen. This means we do not need to keep a finished garment in stock in every size.

At CELINA SUCHY, these designs are made in our Berlin studio. Each product page shows the available colours and sizes. The sewing photographs in this article show work in our studio; you can find more on Brand Insights.

Why the shop also includes ready-made pieces

Made-to-order pieces and finished one-offs follow different delivery timelines. For example, Drifter GT is made after you place your order, while the Waisted Talent corset was made as a one-off in size S.

A finished one-off does not need to be sewn again before dispatch. This is why availability and delivery time are listed on each product page. They tell you whether you are commissioning production or ordering an existing piece.

We show how the old jeans become the finished top in our article on upcycling jeans, with a studio reel.

Made to order does not automatically mean made to measure

With made-to-order clothing, you initially order an existing design in an available size. Made-to-measure clothing, by contrast, is adjusted to your individual measurements. When a piece is made and whether its pattern is personalised are two separate things.

If you need a different length or fit, please ask about the change before buying. We will discuss whether it is possible for that design and how it affects the price and delivery time. A custom alteration only becomes part of your order once it has been agreed.

How to check your size and delivery date

Open the size chart and sizing advice on your chosen product page and compare your measurements with those listed. Consider the cut too: “wide leg” describes a deliberately generous trouser leg, while “fitted” means a shape that sits close to the body. Choosing a larger or smaller size does not automatically give you a different cut.

If you are ordering for a particular occasion, the stated delivery time matters. “Express delivery after production” means the piece is made first and dispatched afterwards. Please check any required delivery date with us before buying via Contact , and include the design, your preferred size and the date.

What making to order changes

In this process, the garment is sewn for a specific order. We therefore do not need to make every available size in advance. The materials may already be in the studio: making a garment to order does not mean its fabric is only produced at that point.

For you, this means confirming the size, details and timing before production starts. If anything is unclear, we can advise you on the specific design.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose my usual clothing size?

Use your usual size as a starting point and compare your measurements with the design’s size chart. The intended fit also depends on the cut. If you are unsure, ask us for advice before ordering.

Is the delivery time the same for every design?

No. Production time and availability can vary. Refer to the delivery time on your chosen product page, and discuss any required delivery date with us before buying.
